Hi there! My name is Amy Kivell, and from the time I was old enough to spin my childhood bedroom around single handedly, I have been somewhat obsessed with my surroundings. While other kids were begging their parents for puppies or new game systems, I would be on my knees for the chance to rearrange the family sunroom.
Rearranging eventually graduated on to painting, refinishing, minor and major renovating, and of course, an accomplished ability to source and place that perfect gilded mirror, cast iron sconce, or taxidermied rooster…yep, I said taxidermied rooster. To each her own! I firmly believe our little differences in preference and style should be elaborated upon and embraced.
Hence the development of this blog. I hope to provide readers with helpful bits of information regarding decorating challenges, and perhaps more ambitiously, I would like to create a platform of inspiration that y’all can spring off of. I plan to scour mostly local (Southwestern Ontario) businesses including stores, galleries, restaurants (a girl’s gotta eat), and even any scenic spot that can inspire, or at least help get your head in a space that is more receptive to inspiration. I like to pretend my line of sight is a camera viewfinder, and the more in my viewfinder considered picture-worthy, the better, starting with my home, on to my garden, and then out and about in general. Here’s to improving what’s in your viewfinder. I look forward to developing this blog and I greatly welcome any comments. Thanks for checking me out, and enjoy A Change of Space.
